Shield Symbols:
I used a horse to represent me but relate to the middle ages because I ride them almost every weekend, and they help with getting things done. The middle ages used them because they were more central to society than their modern counterparts, being essential for war, agriculture, and transport.
The symbol of the castle with a cross on it represents me because I am a true Christian believer. I am very religious and go to church weekly. However it relates to the middle Ages because the cross was primarily a religious symbol for Christianity. In many different forms it appeared in heraldry as a simple "charge" (design) on a shield, being a very conspicuous shape and therefore easy to identify at a distance.
Armor is usually used to protect oneself. I chose this symbol because I protect myself from bullies and the real world, whenever it starts to bring me down. Armor is used for when you get hit, you can continue moving on because you don’t fully get hurt. I reflect on that because I can continue whenever someone tries to hurt me, and look past it. The middles ages used the piece of equipment for a different reason but still is used as the same symbol. Armor in the middle ages meant the mark of a knight. It was used in war to protect oneself.
The symbol of the sword is the opposite of the armor because it is a tool used to fight back. If someone tries to bring me down, I’m not just going to stand there and let them. I will fight for what I want. The middle ages were doing just the same, but it meant war, fighting for what they wanted. The sword was a weapon for the knights to use when fighting.
